Here’s a taster of new cafes and restaurants heading our way.

5. No32 Pizza & Cocktails, The Beam
One of two new additions to the ground floor of The Beam, No 32 Pizza and Cocktails opens its doors on July 8, specialising in Neapolitan pizza, inventive side plates, desserts and cocktails. You can book your table now on their website. | Sunderland Echo

6. ARV, Sunniside Social
Earlier this year, it was announced that ARV is opening a new boutique fitness studio as part of the newly-named Sunniside Social development. The site is undergoing a major facelift and improvements are also being made to its Grade II listed façade. And it will include a healthy café serving protein smoothies and nutritious bites. | Submitted

7. Whitburn Village Cafe
Just outside of Sunderland, but a well-known spot that's recently been taken over is Whitburn Village Cafe. Brothers Richard and Dom Ord, of Colmans chippy fame, have taken on one of their favourite haunts. Work has started on transforming the site into a new cafe, but with the same name and an elevated English cafe offering. | Sunderland Echo
8. Blacks Corner, Culture House, Keel Square
The first cheese conveyor belt outside of London - in which people can select dishes from a conveyor belt, similar to a sushi belt - is set to be one of the highlights of the new Blacks Corner when it opens in Culture House. Contractors are busy finishing the ground floor unit, which will house the first city centre Blacks Corner. On the menu, it will cater for a morning through to evening offering, with breakfasts and coffees through to evening small plates and wines, including the cheese belt which will wrap around a central island. As well as 80 covers within the cafe / restaurant, you’ll be able to take your coffees up to the Sky Garden space, where Blacks Corner will also be catering events. | Sunderland Echo
