Wearside-born author Paul Farrell is counting down to his new fantasy book's release this week
An author with autism has produced a new fantasy-inspired book which is set to be released later this week.
Paul Farrell is counting down to publication day for his work called The Archon Saga which will be released on Friday, April 24, costing £6.99 from major retailers.

Sunderland-born Paul, who was raised in Peterlee and now lives in Blackhall, said: “The book follows four classmates who, while on a trip to the ruins of Delphi in Greece, become lost in another world and must find their way home.
“ I was largely inspired by fantasy media involving other worlds, with a major source of inspiration being Dungeons & Dragons, as well as the Nintendo video game series Fire Emblem.”

Paul added: “I’m 28 years old and autistic. I was born in Sunderland and attended Barbara Priestman Academy for my final years of school, which is a specialist school in Sunderland.

“I describe myself as having a perpetually active imagination with a “character first” writing style, meaning I frame plot threads around the characters.”
The Archon Saga is listed as having a Children's/Teenage Fantasy & Magical Realism genre. The book centres on a last-minute end-of-year trip which turns into anarchy for Scarlett and three of her classmates.
They are scattered across an unknown world and Scarlett must reunite with her friends, stop the mysterious order causing havoc and hopefully find a way home.
The book will be available at major retailers such as Waterstones as well as Amazon for the paperback edition, said Paul. He added: “It is also available in e-book, The book is being published through London based publisher Austin Macauley Publishers.”
