The Sunderland figures from the past that you said you would love to meet
It’s the question we put to followers of the Echo’s nostalgia page on Facebook, called Wearside Echoes.
The 4,000 members came up with their own favourites when we asked them ‘If you could bring back one public figure from Sunderland's past, who would it be?’
Here are their replies but would you agree with them?
If not, which figure would you most like to meet? Take a look at our selection and then tell us more.

1. Bobby Thompson
The star of the North East stage was among the most nominated in our Wearside Echoes post. The Penshaw-raised comedian was chosen by people including Jeanette Usher, Claire and Jacob Ratton. Photo: se

3. Raich Carter
The man who captained Sunderland to the Football League title in 1936 and scored in the 3-1 FA Cup Final win against Preston North End. His inclusion is thanks to Wearside Echoes follower Jack Longstaff. Photo: SE

4. Bob Stokoe
The Messiah Bob Stokoe will forever be known as the man who took Sunderland to FA Cup glory in 1973. He makes it on to our list thanks to Steve Smith and Gerard Thomas. Photo: SE
