We asked the 6,000 members ‘Which was the Sunderland cinema you loved most from the past?’

5. The Cora
A 1955 view of the Cora Picture Palace. Its fans included Rod Storey and Rose Crone.
6. The Ritz
It had different names over the years but The Ritz had lots of fans in its day. They included Brenda Ferguson Berry, Patricia Flanagan, Pauline Cornish and Sue Boswell who also loved it in its days as the ABC.
7. The Gaumont
Sadly, this view of the Gaumont (and at one time the Havelock) was taken in 1965 as it was being demolished to make way for redevelopment. But there were people who remembered it in its heyday including Anne Stamp who said: "Tea upstairs, then down to theatre."
8. The Regal
