6. The Torrens, North Hylton Road
The Torrens was named after a clipper ship, built at Laing’s shipyard in Deptford in 1875, which once held the record for the fastest journey to Australia. Today the pub is a Spar store and a chip shop. Photo: Sunderland Echo
