1. A reminder of Binns
Memories of Binns got a big reaction from Wearside Echoes followers. Claire Stott Mcmahon said: "Used to love this shop at Xmas . My mam worked in the pram department and her friend in cosmetics early 60s." And Paul Corbett said: "My first job was on Binns furniture department. 2. Fawcett Street at Christmas in 1967
Dozens of members loved this photo showing the bright Christmas lights in Fawcett Street in 1967. Janice Henderson said the view was 'wonderful' and Freda Davison commented: "Just look at the town then full of lovely people all in their best." Photo: se
3. Thorpe Maternity Hospital
It was the place where many Wearsiders were born and the little maternity hospital near Easington attracted plenty of comments when we posted this nostalgic photo. Lilian Anderson said: "Was in 1954 and 1956 first for my son then my daughter. I live in South Africa now. Sat the other day wondering if it still stands."
