

11 reminders of Joplings as we mark 10 years since Sunderland department store closed for good
Gone but definitely not forgotten. That’s Joplings which traded for the last time 10 years ago today.
It had been in business in Sunderland for 206 years until its final day in June 2010.
In its long and illustrious history, it had been destroyed by fire, rebuilt and welcomed celebrities galore.
But the people who loved it most were the people of Sunderland and here are some reminders of the memories they still hold of the John Street favourite.

1. Children loved the toys
