10 photos of Sunderland in 1966 and 1967 - this is how your neighbourhoods used to look
What a golden era it was for Sunderland.
We are talking about 1966 to 1968 and that includes the time when the World Cup came to Wearside.
There are 10 photos for you to enjoy and they come to us from historian Bill Hawkins of the Sunderland Antiquarian Society.
Our thanks go to Bill for another set of wonderful images which includes Park Lane bus station, Crowtree Road (in the days when you could still buy a pint at The Crowtree, The Three Tuns and The Red Lion) and Simpson Street School.
There’s so much more as well in a retro feature which shows just how much the city has changed.
We thank Bill for another great collection of images. Bill is a member of the Sunderland Antiquarian Society. To find out more about the history of Sunderland, visit the society’s Facebook page or its website at http://www.sunderland-antiquarians.org
