Joseph Archer spent his third birthday in hospital after being diagnosed with cancer and during this time, his playhouse was stolen.

Although family friends donated a new one to Joe, he can’t play with it as he remains in the RVI battling his cancer.

In January, things were looking up as he rang the bell to mark the end of his chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Sadly, just a couple of days later, his family members were told that doctors found tumours had returned to both of his lungs, so he is now set for more chemotherapy treatment.

After Echo readers heard this news, they rallied in support of Joe and his family as his stepdad, Ryan Sowerby, gets set for a sponsored head shave to raise money for a family holiday when he is well enough to travel.

Gaye Wilson said: “Keep strong. He’s in the best place for treatment. Thinking of you all. It’s such a hard road to follow. I’ve travelled it too and a miracle happened for us so I’ll be praying you get one too.”

Irene Anne Franciosi added: “Ah bless him. I hope this time he fights it, wins it and he's cured for life! God bless him and his family.”

Joe’s mam Beckie Archer said: “He’s the best he’s ever been though. He’s dancing, singing and being so cheeky. He’s walking around again and it’s sad but he’s definitely getting the strength to battle it.

“He’s amazing and all the nurses are wrapped around his little finger.”

Ryan’s fundraiser has now raised over £700, to donate click here.
