Simply put, the dentists do the medical investigations and diagnoses, while the technicians make what is required, such as dentures, crowns, braces and bridges.

While implants themselves need a dentist’s attention at initial consultation, lots of the later work can be done by technicians. That means, for example, repairs or replacements on any devices can be crafted individually for you. This not only saves time, and ultimately money, it allows for a clear conversation between client and technician, offering a ‘right-first-time’ approach.

Implants – what are they and who are they suitable for

A dental implant is a long-term replacement for a missing tooth – unlike bridges or dentures they are attached through the gum to the jaw bone, making them a strong and stable solution. A titanium ‘root’ does the work of a natural root, anchoring the implant in place.

They have many benefits, from restoring the practical ability to chew and the aesthetic restoration of your smile, and just as vitally, shoring up what is known as unretentive dentures. These are dentures that are prone to slippage or movement, usually because they don’t have firm support either side due to tooth loss.
