Spain was removed from the Government’s list of countries exempt from quarantine measures on Saturday, July 25, after a spike in the number of coronavirus cases led to fears of a ‘second wave’.

Everyone returning to the UK from their Spanish holiday must now self-isolate for 14 days.

The decision led to several airlines, including TUI, Jet 2 and EasyJet, cancelling flights after the change in advice from the Foreign Office.

One of the most popular holiday destinations among British tourists, Spain had been included on the travel corridors list since the roster of countries was first made public early in July.

The Prime Minister defended his decision and indicated that further countries could be removed from the list if they see an increase in outbreaks.

On Tuesday, July 28, Estonia, Latvia, Slovenia, Slovakia and St Vincent and the Grenadines were added to the list of countries exempt from quarantine.

TUI will be increasing flights to Greece and Turkey this weekend to enable more affected customers to switch their destinations.
