The 27 areas in and around Sunderland with lower case rates than Tier 3 Liverpool

The number of Covid-19 cases across Sunderland have increased but there are 27 areas in and around the city which have a lower case rate than Tier 3 Liverpool.

Overall Sunderland’s infection case rate stands at 208.9 cases per 100,000 people, just slightly higher than Liverpool’s 205.8 cases per 100,000 people.

Sunderland and the North East has been moved into Tier 4 along with the majority of the county, while Liverpool is one of the few places to in Tier 3 having been moved from Tier 2 on New Years Eve.

These are the 27 areas in and around Wearside with the lowest rates of coronavirus recorded between Saturday, December 19 and Friday, December 25, according to official data.

The case rate takes into account the number of people living in each area compared to the number of people who have tested positive for the virus and are measured by 100,000 people.

The figures are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).

Whitburn and Marsden

The case rate is 141.1 per 100,000 people. Eleven cases were recorded in the area in the the seven days up to Christmas.

The case rate is 72.0 per 100,000 people. Seven cases were recorded in the area in the the seven days up to Christmas.

Oxclose and Lambton

The case rate is 95.6 per 100,000 people. Eight cases were recorded in the area in the seven days up to Christmas.

Albany and Blackfell

The case rate is 160.8 per 100,000 people. Eleven cases were recorded in the area in the seven days up to Christmas.

Columbia, Barmston and Teal Farm

The case rate is 160.7 per 100,000 people. Thirteen cases were recorded in the area in the seven days up to Christmas.
