Data from Public Health England published reveals there were 419 positive Covid cases in the week up to February 23 – which equates to a rolling rate of 150.9 per 100,000 people.
The local authority has seen a continual fall with 535 positive cases confirmed in the week prior (up to February 16) – a rolling rate of 192.7 per 100,000 people.
Although the number of Covid cases in Sunderland continues to fall the city still has one of the highest rates in the North East.

The case rate takes into account the number of people living in each area compared to the number of people who have tested positive for the virus and are measured by 100,000 people.
