Sunderland's coronavirus rates rise again in latest weekly rolling figures

The data, compiled by the Press Association from official statistics, show that Sunderland’s Covid-19 rate increased from 73.5 cases to 82.1 cases per 100,000 people in the seven days leading up to Sunday, September 13.
The figures, which compares numbers for all upper-tier local authorities, take into account tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and those in the wider community (pillar two).

Hide AdAccording to the figures, Sunderland had 228 confirmed cases over the seven-day period to September 13 – an increase of 24 cases from the week before, ending September 6, when 204 were recorded.
While the city was recently among the 10 upper-tier local authority areas with the highest rate of increase per 100,000 people, it has now slipped to 22nd out of 343 authorities across England.
Bolton, with 587 new cases in the week ending September 13, compared to 437 in the week ending September 6, still heads the table with its rate of infections per 100,000 people increasing over the same period from 152 to 204.1.
The latest figures for daily cases, meanwhile, released by Public Health England on Wednesday, September 16, show an extra 40 infections have been confirmed across Sunderland with the total now standing at 2,319.
