Sunderland fruit and veg shop begins delivery service to help those who are self-isolating during the coronavirus outbreak

Barlow’s Fruit and Veg in Seaburn, Sunderland has began a delivery service in an effort to help out those who cannot leave the house following the coronavirus outbreak.
The family ran business, based on Sea Road, started the service on Monday (March, 23) and has already received a boom in orders.

Hide AdKevin Barlow, the shops owner said: “We wanted to start doing deliveries last week but we couldn’t get the stock.
“So we began deliveries this week now things have eased off a bit and we are just seeing more and more orders coming in.
“On Monday (March, 23) we delivered to a street in Cleadon, after that we then received another five orders for the same street.
“It’s all spreading through word of mouth.”
Kevin runs the shop along with his wife Lesley, however they have convinced other relatives to help out.

Hide Ad“It has been a big family effort. My daughter Sophie and her fiancé have been out doing the deliveries.
“They said they didn’t want to be paid for it, they are just happy to be volunteering their time.”
