Sunderland factory launches recruitment drive to help keep up with demand during the UK lockdown

A Sunderand poultry processing company is reaching out to those who are seeking work following the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

Hide Ad2 Sisters Food Group, which is based on the Leechmere Industrial Estate, has various roles available and is keen to speak to anyone who is out of work.
Chief Executive Officer Ronald Kers made an urgent appeal on social media as his company tries to cope with demand brought on by panic buying in supermarkets across the UK.
Mr Kers said: “2 Sisters’ job is literally to feed the nation. Getting food to people has never been so important.
“As we come together as a country to fight the coronavirus, we need everybody’s help to keep our factories running.

Hide Ad“We urgently need people so we can keep delivering a full range of products to supermarkets across the country.”
A spokesman for the Sunderland site added: “We have various roles ranging from packing, dispatch, preparation and there are various shift patterns to fit around people’s lifestyles.
“We can interview applicants immediately and hopefully we can accommodate as many people as possible.”
Last week, all UK food sector workers were classed as “key workers” by the government, meaning they can carry on to work as normal, providing they are fit and well.
