Southmoor Academy asks Sixth Form students to self-isolate for the third time since October

The school confirmed the latest Covid-19 case to parents via text message and reassured them that all affected students are self-isolating.

The school confirmed the latest case to parents via text message and stated that those who had close contact with the affected pupil are currently self-isolating.

It is the third time this term that the Sixth Form has been affected with a coronavirus case after previously reporting one in October and another earlier this month.

Southmoor have also revealed that a full risk assessment has been carried out and non-affected pupils need to carry on with their usual routines.

It is unknown how many students are affected by the latest case however a letter was sent out to parents in November saying some pupils needed to self-isolate until November 27.

The newest case was confirmed via text message, which reads: “We have been advised that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 within your child’s year group, Sixth Form.

"We have carried out a full risk assessment and identified all those who have been in close contact with the affected case and have recommended that they stay home and self-isolate until 14 days after their last contact.

"Your child has not been identified as a close contact and therefore does not need to make an change to their usual routine, including school attendance.”

The school made face coverings compulsory when moving around the school in September when schools reopened to all pupils after months of lockdown closures.

The Echo contacted the school on Friday, November 27 for a comment but has yes to receive a reply.
