The quiet streets of Sunderland as Government coronavirus measures close pubs, restaurants and cafes

Government measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus have left the streets of Sunderland virtually empty.

The measures were introduced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Friday, March 20, as he follows medical and scientific advice on slowing down the spread of the illness to help the NHS cope.
