In recent weeks, the rainbow has become the symbol of support for those putting their lives on the line to fight the pandemic.

Pictures have sprung up across the city as people seek to show their backing for health service and care workers.

But this evening, Sunday, April 26, Mother Nature put all our efforts to shame, with a beautiful full rainbow visible across the city.

Echo reporter Kevin Clark caught it over St John’s church in Ashbrooke, while readers from Fulwell to Houghton were quick to message our Facebook page with their own stunning images.
