How the North East and Yorkshire's vaccination rate compares to the rest of the country as region's supplies set to be halved

The North East and Yorkshire could get 100,000 less doses of the Covid-19 vaccine next week, so that more immunisations can take place in other parts of the country, reports have said.
It is believed the measure will be put in place because the North East, which is paired with Yorkshire as an NHS region, has administered a higher percentage of jabs to eligible groups of people than elsewhere.
Data from NHS England has shown that 67.1% of those aged over 80 in the region have received their first dose of the vaccine – the highest percentage in England. This is followed by 63.8% in the North West and 60.7% in the South West. Currently, the lowest rate has been recorded on London, with just 49.8% of the capital’s over 80s getting their first dose of the jab so far.
A relatively high number of people over 80 in the North East and Yorkshire have got their second dose of the vaccine as well: 54,330 or 12.2% of the region’s population in this age group. This is second only to the East of England, where 12.4% of those aged over 80 have been administered a second dose. London is third with a rate of 12%, while the Midlands has recorded the lowest percentage in England with 8.8%.
The data also shows that the North East and Yorkshire is ahead in vaccinating its under 80s, as 3.9% of people in that age group have received their first dose of the jab. This is second only to the North West, where 4% have been administered a dose of the vaccine, with the lowest rate recorded in London at 2.6%.
All regions share a rate of 0.2% when it comes to people under 80 who receiving a second dose of the jab, with only the East of England and the North West recording slightly different percentages at 0.1% and 0.3% respectively.
Since inoculation started, 618,761 people in the North East and Yorkshire have received their first dose of the vaccine and 70,229 have been administered a second dose as well.
