Yeast Is Yeast, run by Emma Lancaster, 41 and her Husband John, 42, provided the free pizzas, which had been bought and donated by members of the community, to North East Ambulance staff working at Pallion Ambulance Station.
The pizzas were accompanied with messages of thanks and gratitude to the ambulance staff for all their hard work during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

John Lancaster said: “The ambulance staff were absolutely over the moon that people had donated pizzas to them. A few people were in tears at the messages people had wrote inside the pizza boxes.
If we can give them something to look forward to every week while they so work so hard to keep us safe, that would be great.”
One heartfelt message left inside a pizza box read: “Stay safe, continue your amazing work and we are all in it with you.”

Hide AdThe idea came about after regular customer Ian Marsh, 49, from Rickleton got in touch with Yeast Is Yeast to ask how together they could support NHS staff.
After agreeing the idea with the North East Ambulance Service, Ian rallied the troops in the community and encouraged people to buy pizzas for the ambulance staff.
Speaking about the idea he said: I thought about whether there was something that we could do locally for ambulance staff to show our gratitude? Having had pizzas from Yeast Is Yeast before I thought maybe they would be happy to get involved. I got in touch with them and they were happy to do this.
I really hope that when this is all over, the community spirit that has built up so quickly remains in place.”
