Coronavirus: Sports activity suspended at Sunderland's Beacon of Light

Sunderland AFC’s charitable arm The Foundation of Light, which runs the Beacon, has decided to axe all sessions until further notice.

Hide AdA statement released on Wednesday, March 18 said: “Our primary concern is the safety and wellbeing of all our participants, guests, visitors and staff.
“As a result, we have taken the difficult decision to suspend all sports activity at the Beacon of Light until further notice and the public will no longer be able to make bookings.
“As home to Beacon of Light School and Siblings Nursery, the building continues to operate in line with government guidance on schools and colleges – the Beacon of Light School and Siblings Nursery continue to operate as normal. Any queries should be directed to them directly.

The Beacon will operate reduced hours between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday and will be closed at weekends with immediate effect.
Fausto Coppa will close to the public from today, Wednesday, March 18.
