Coronavirus mobile testing site set up at Pallion Retail Park - this is who is eligible for appointments and how to apply

The mobile Covid-19 testing site will be open at Pallion Retail Park over the weekend, however it is only for those people who are eligible who have made appointments in advance.

Those who are eligible can be tested at the site either today (Friday, May 15) or tomorrow (Saturday, May 16).

The site will be open from 9am until 3pm and the council are urging members of the public not to just turn up.

If you qualify to be tested, and you or anyone is your household has coronavirus symptoms, then you can book a test online.

To be eligible you must be one of the following:

An essential worker and are showing symptoms of coronavirus. 65-years-old or over and are showing signs of coronavirus symptoms. Showing symptoms and have to leave your house to go to work.

Priority for testing is reserved for essential frontline workers such as NHS staff.

The Government guidance on testing is that it must be done in the first five days of showing symptoms.

A warning on the official Government website says: “It’s best to apply for the test in the first three days as it may take one or two days to arrange.”

It should also be noted that if you apply for a test, you may not receive one due to availability.
