These are the areas in Seaham and East Durham with the highest and lowest numbers of coronavirus deaths

Official figures have revealed which areas of East Durham have seen the highest number of deaths related to coronavirus.

Data released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on Friday, June 12, lists the total number of deaths per area for the County Durham local authority, and shows which percentage of these are related to coronavirus.

According to the figures, there have been 427 deaths recorded in the East Durham area between March 1, 2020 and May 31, 2020.

Of these, 162 were related to coronavirus.

This means 38% of deaths recorded in East Durham and Seaham between those dates were Covid-related.

We take a look at which areas had the highest and lowest percentages of Covid-19 related deaths.
