In a post on Facebook 808 Bar & Kitchen said that the closure was a precaution and a deep clean was under way.

They said: “We have made a decision to close 808 Bar & Kitchen for the next 48 hours. Unfortunately a customer - who visited the bar on Saturday 5th September at 6:20pm - 22:30pm - has been brought to our attention as potentially COVID positive. Please note, this precautionary measure has been implemented to ensure the utmost health and safety for both our staff and customers.

“Deep cleaning of the venue is now under way and tests have been arranged for 808 staff members and all official regulators have been informed - as is required. Track and trace will contact those affected if proven necessary.

“We would like to reassure everyone that this customer was seated in a booth where Perspex screens are fitted to enable social distancing and the separation of individual parties.”
