Christmas 2022: When pharmacies across Sunderland are open this year including Boots and more

Finding a pharmacy that is open near to you can be tricky during the festive period, and the upcoming holidays with additional bank holidays means times will be different.

The majority of pharmacies are expected to remain open in the build up to Christmas Day with the likes of Boots and Lloyds Pharmacy scheduling late night shopping for both their stores and pharmacies in the days before Christmas. Times for individual stores can be found on the company’s respective websites.

The NHS has advised due to postal strikes in the lead up to Christmas Day 2022, those who receive their prescriptions by Royal Mail to ensure that they get their doctors notes ahead of time to avoid missing any medication doses.

There will only be one option on Christmas Day with the team at Medichem Limited on Villette Road saying the site will be open on Sunday, December 25, between 4pm and 6pm. It will not be open for any following bank holidays.

Which Sunderland pharmacies will be open over Christmas and New Year bank holidays?

Boots

Boots Pharmacy in The Bridges will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day but open between 8:30am and 5pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. The company’s Park Lane site will be open from 9am to 5pm on Christmas Eve and 9am to 6pm on New Year’s Eve.

Superdrug Pharmacy

Superdrug Pharmacy in the Bridges will only be open between 8:30am and 5:30pm on Boxing Day.

Asda Pharmacy

The pharmacy at Asda’s Leechmere Road store will be open from 9am to 6pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve as well as 10am to 4pm on Boxing Day, Tuesday, December 27, and Monday, January 2.

E Chaston Limited

E Chaston Limited on Silksworth Terrace will be open from 10am until midday on Boxing Day and closed for the remainder of bank holidays.

Hylton Castle Pharmacy

Hylton Castle Pharmacy will be open from 10am until midday on Monday, January 2, and closed for the remainder of bank holidays.
