Class teacher Andy Hunter said: "As a school we’ve had contingency plans in place, so we had some packs, books and resources ready to go if needed.

"But it was a shock when we found out, because even through we know it’s around, you don’t expect it to happen.

"The children approached it with a real maturity. I’m really proud of them.”

Mrs Johnson said: "We have been impressed by the many achievements of our pupils since the start of the pandemic and believe they have demonstrated such a positive outlook through adverse times – particularly our year 6 children, who have been our first bubble to self-isolate.

"The way they have approached the home learning tasks has been impressive and we are very proud of them and also their parents and carers who have supported them, and us, in this.”

Year 6 pupil Logan Anderson said during the isolation period: “At first it was weird but now I find it quite normal now.

“My mam has kept a strict routine which I think has helped me.

"I can’t wait to get back to school but I know being in isolation has kept everyone safe including people I don’t even know.”

Logan’s mother Lois added her son had been relieved to be back in lessons following lockdown and had found the support from the school “fantastic” during the isolation period.

She added: "Logan has smashed his way through this and it has certainly has helped myself with my health, seeing my 10 year-old-son succeed, being happy and manage so well.”
