Primary school to stay closed due to ongoing electrical problems

A primary school has said it will be unable to open for lessons until at least Friday after its electrical problems suffered an ‘unforeseen delay’.

Hetton Lyons Primary School, in Four Lane Ends in Hetton, sent out a message to families and workers on Sunday, June 14, saying it would be unable to open for the start of the new week due to the issues.

The school was set to reopen on Wednesday, June 17 after an initial delay in trying to resolve the problems.

This has now extended to Friday, June 19 as the school issued a further update via its Facebook page on Tuesday: “Unfortunately due to an unforeseen delay, we will remain closed tomorrow and Thursday.

“The repair should be complete on Thursday, which will mean School will be open on Friday to the current key worker groups. Reception 'bubbles' will resume on Monday.

“We are sorry for the inconvenience this will have caused and very much look forward to seeing some of you next week!”

As with all schools, it has shared information about changes made to its set up to allow children to remain socially distanced as they return to school.
