The 2026 Active Sunderland Big Bike Ride was started by the Mayor of Sunderland, Councillor Robert Hutchinson, from the Beacon of Light on Sunday.
With options including a five-mile family ride as well as 12-mile, 20-mile and 38-mile routes, the courses passed along city roads and woodland paths hugging the River Wear.
