Work started on the former Farringdon Police Station site in December 2024 to create Durham Road Retail Park in the shadow of the existing McDonald’s.
Creating more than 100 retail and hospitality jobs, the 32,100 sq ft site is nearing completion with the final units opening.
The development works were carried out by Almscliffe Dhesi Developments and include a car park for 110 vehicles, including accessible bays, cycle parking and eight electric vehicle charging points.
Here’s a look at what’s on the site.
1. Costa Drive Thru
The Costa Drive Thru is already open as a sit-in coffee shop as well as a drive-thru. | Sunderland Echo
2. B&M
B&M is the largest retailer on the site with its homewares and garden centre. It opens on February 4. | Sunderland Echo
3. Remaining units
There's two remaining units either side of the Dicksons unit. It's believed one will house Westway Vets and the other The Tanning shop. | Sunderland Echo

4. Dicksons
