Cloud 9, on Hylton Road, was one of many businesses across the country working around the clock before the second coronavirus lockdown came into place on Thursday, November 5.

The salon made headlines in July when it reopened at midnight following the first national lockdown and owner Debra Anne Adamson felt it was only fitting to keep it open until midnight to mark its second lockdown closure.

As well as cramming in around a month’s worth of hair appointments in just a matter of days, Debra even managed to squeeze in eyebrow waxing and gel nails.

But a last-minute cancellation meant that the dedicated salon owner was able to close up ‘earlier’ than expected at around 10pm – after a 14-hour day.

Debra added: “I was on my knees when I finished!”

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the second national lockdown on October 31.
