We’ve rounded up some of the top things to do over the long weekend, which runs from June 2-5.
5. Jubilee fun at The Bridges
As well as a jubilee photo booth, The Bridges is hosting a family friendly programme of activities. On Friday 3 June a live band with singers will be performing in the centre from 1pm, setting the scene for a whole afternoon of entertainment which will play music from across the decades of Her Majesty’s reign. Shoppers will also be able to enjoy a performance by the Shoe Shop Quartet, a group of female barber-shop style singers, who will be putting their own unique twist on some classic songs from across the decade. The Bridges has commissioned a special jubilee cake and jubilee cupcakes which will be given out for free across the afternoon to visitors to the centre. Youngsters will be able to get their faces painted on both Friday and Saturday, with a balloon modeller who will be making crowns for youngsters on site on 4 June. Photo: submitted

The Sunderland Bangladesh International Centre is gearing up to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a family fun day welcoming a diverse range of cultures from the Sunderland area, thanks to the support of a grant from Newcastle Building Society. Over 200 people from BAME, refugee and asylum-seeking communities are expected to attend the celebratory event for an afternoon of food and entertainment from around the world, including international cuisine, African drumming, henna body art, face painting and arts and crafts. 7. Jubilee party, Mowbray Park
On 5 June, Mowbray Park will be the setting for The Big Jubilee Lunch, from 11am to 4pm and Sunderland BID is inviting families to either bring a picnic or purchase food from a variety of street food stalls and enjoy an afternoon of activities for all ages. These will include kids’ clubs and drama workshops, teaching a selection of royal skills from waving to curtseying, with live music from Back Chat Brass and local buskers. Photo: Stu Norton
8. Stack Seaburn
Stack Seaburn will be flying the flag for the Queen’s Jubilee with a host of celebrations. There's free children's entertainment throughout the half term, followed by live music across the weekend including The North East’s ‘King of Swing’ – Jason Isaacs, The Houndcats, The Emerald Thieves and Beyond Madness. The Jubilee weekend will culminate with a special event for Rob Lamberti – the UK’s number 1 George Michael tribute act – who will be bringing his live band to Stack on Sunday 5 June, giving fans the chance to see George’s musical talent, charisma and passion embodied again.
