A seafront favourite, Queen's Cafe in Seaburn has won awards for its fish lots and it's another chippy in the city with a rating of 4.7. One happy customer said: "The best fish and chips in the area by far. Always consistently perfectly cooked. The chips are cooked perfectly in beef dripping I think that's what makes the difference and the fish is always fresh. In addition to being a takeaway there is a spacious, comfortable cafe area."

One of the few chippies in the city centre, Angels in Derwent Street has a rating of 4.6. "If I could rate higher than 5 stars I would, the cheeseburger battered with chips and curry almost made me bust it was that good," said one diner.
