New jobs and a much bigger site for popular B&M store
There’s new jobs and a much bigger shop in store for a popular B&M branch.
The B&M at Byron Place in Seaham is relocating into a substantially larger unit, which brings with it more shopping options and new jobs.

It will see B&M relocate from its existing store at Byron Place into the former Poundland unit nearby, expanding into more than 15,800 sq ft of sales space.
The new store is expected to create 15 new jobs for local people and will offer an expanded range of products for shoppers.
The current B&M store closed on Saturday 23rd January - and the new store will open at 8am on Saturday 31st January.
Estama, the property management firm responsible for Byron Place, says the relocation shows confidence in Seaham as a retail destination.

Ross Campbell, Property Director at Estama, said B&M’s decision reflected both customer demand and the strength of the centre’s offer.
“B&M’s decision to relocate to a larger unit within Byron Place is a strong vote of confidence in both the centre and the town,” he said.
“Responding to customer demand for a bigger store while creating new local jobs is exactly the kind of positive investment we want to see.
“The move will strengthen the overall offer at Byron Place and provide shoppers with an improved experience, all within a familiar and accessible location.”
Byron Place is home to a mix of retailers and services, including ASDA, Greggs, Card Factory, Peacocks, Costa Coffee and O2.
Estama says having a balanced offering is key to maintaining occupancy at a time when many town centres continue to face challenges.
“The centre now hosts a strategic blend of retailers that work well together and serve the needs of the local community,” Campbell added. “That balance is key to long-term resilience.”
Looking ahead, the company is exploring further improvements at Byron Place, including potential electric vehicle charging infrastructure, as part of a broader commitment to sustainability and future-proofing the asset.
