5. The Old Bank Pizza Co, The Nook
The Old Bank Pizza Co has transformed the landmark former Barclay's site at The Nook, South Tyneside. They offer hand-stretched pizzas, starters, salads, desserts, artisan coffee, wines, craft beers, spirits and draught beers. Sit-in in stylish surroundings or you can grab a pizza to go. 6. Slice Seaham, bottom of Church Street
The original Slice, and a sister site to the Roker Slice, Slice Seaham is a hugely-popular hatch at the bottom of Church Street. Look out for imaginative weekly specials.
