How to get free ice cream and chips at Stack Seaburn as part of Army of the Dead zombie movie takeover
Stack Seaburn caused a stir this week when Netflix transformed it into a post-apocalyptic film set – and now they’re doing a monster giveaway as part of the zombie takeover.
Many people thought the seafront landmark had been vandalised when they saw the graffiti, hazard tape and sandbags on Thursday morning, but it was all part of a promotion for new film Army of the Dead.
The Sunderland venue was chosen to promote the new release because in the film, following a zombie outbreak, a giant wall of shipping containers is placed around the perimeter of Las Vegas, to contain the infestation within the city walls.
The film props are in situ until the end of this weekend and, as part of the promotion, people will be able to win free food from Stack this weekend.
On Saturday, May 22, and Sunday, May 23 a zombie hand will be emerging from the ‘crashed’ pop up container at the front of the site giving out scratch cards,
All you have to do is scratch the card to be in with a chance of winning either a free ice cream from Cafe YOLO or a cone of chips from Downey’s – with hundreds of treats up for grabs.
This week’s activity is not the first time Sunderland has been linked with Netflix: Docu-series Sunderland Til I Die was seen by millions around the world as it followed the trials and tribulations of being a Sunderland AFC fan.
In tribute to the link, the zombie makeover also features Sunderland ‘Til I Die graffiti.
