The announcement that staff would receive up to £300 came on Wednesday following the company’s 2019 results, which revealed a 13.5% sales growth compared with 7.2% in 2018.
The bonus is expected to be paid at the end of this month.
While praise was huge for the Greggs decision on social media, some expressed concerns about how the bonus of those whose wages are topped up by Universal Credit would be impacted.
