Win copies of latest book in Ryhope-set saga series from Glenda Young
The Girl with the Scarlet Ribbon is the latest novel from the pen of Glenda Young which she sets in her home village of Ryhope, and follows the success of Belle of the Back Streets, The Tuppenny Child and Pearl of Pit Lane
Set in the pit village in 1919, it tells the story of a newborn baby girl who is found abandoned with nothing but a scarlet ribbon tied to her basket. Ada Davidson, housekeeper of the wealthy McNally family's home, the Uplands, takes her into her care.

Glenda said: “The Girl with the Scarlet Ribbon is set between Ryhope and Scarborough on the Yorkshire coast. The book centres around Ryhope's farming community this time and explores another side to Ryhope village.
"It's the most dramatic of my books so far and includes a shipwreck on Ryhope beach and a concert at Sunderland's Victoria Hall when it reopened after the Victoria Hall disaster."
She added: “I'm indebted to Brian Ibinson and Peter Hedly of Ryhope Heritage Society for their research help and also to everyone at Sunderland Antiquarian Society and Sunderland Maritime Heritage.
