Which Sunderland pubs and bars will be open on Saturday July 4 - Every city centre pub listed as around half say they will stay shut

Pubs and bars are among the businesses which can legally open again from Saturday, July 4. We’ve compiled a list of bars in and around Sunderland city centre, and what their plans are for the big day.

On June 23 the Prime Minister announced that pubs and restaurants can reopen and the two-metre social distancing rule can be reduced to one metre.

Of the 45 bars on our list, 20 are to remain cautious by staying closed for this weekend at least.

The other 25 are using a variety of precautions including PPE, screens, one-way systems, table service, ordering through apps, taking details for track and trace, card only, limiting customer numbers and hand sanitising stations. Measures vary from pub to pub.
