Tim Hortons looks set to open in Boldon as it advertises for staff

Canadian coffee and doughnut stop Tim Hortons is on the look out for staff to help it launch a new cafe in Boldon.

The Toronto-based firm, known for its doughnuts, pancakes, desserts and other treats alongside sweet drinks, coffees, sandwiches and burgers, is looking for a restaurant manager.

They could earn between £24,000 and £30,000, while is also recruiting a shift manager who would be paid a salary of £17,000 to £23,00, with bonuses, overtime and benefits offered.

It is also on the search for a team leader and shift manager for the Washington outlet – with no launch date yet confirmed – as well as a manager for a site in Newcastle.

When contacted, Tim Hortons said: “At this time we are unable to comment about the sites in Boldon and Washington.”

Pizza Hut at Boldon Leisure Park has closed, while the neighbouring Frankie and Benny’s restaurant is for sale.

Tim Hortons has already been granted planning permission for work to the former Frankie and Benny’s building in Washington by Sunderland City Council.

Changes to the site under the proposals are picnic-style outdoor seating, parking, a double billboard, new bicycle racks for eight bikes and pavement improvements.

The company already has a number of branches in and around Glasgow, Ayr and Motherwell, Cardiff, Northern Ireland and the North West of England, including a series in, and close to, Manchester.
