Pub closes for deep clean after customer tests positive for covid

A city centre pub has temporarily closed after a customer tested positive for coronavirus.

The customer visited the Ship Isis on Silksworth Row on Sunday, October 11 between 3.30pm and 5.30pm. The same person later contacted the venue to confirm they had received positive test results on Tuesday, October 13.

The customer did not show any symptoms of the disease until the day after they last drank there.

The pub, a few yards away from the Johnson Street Covid testing site, is undergoing a deep clean and is expected to reopen at 4pm on Wednesday, October 14.

It has contacted customers who had also visited on Sunday evening.

A statement from the Ship Isis on Facebook said: “Instead of waiting for track & trace to do their thing we have taken the decision to email/text everyone who was in on Sunday, just to let them know and we are going to close tonight (October 13) just to give the place an extra, EXTRA clean.
