Mum sets up craft business with cash refunded from holiday cancelled due to pandemic

Sophie Sanderson, 27, started Little Cub Crafts in June, after receiving a refund for a family holiday that was cancelled due to coronavirus.

Little Cub Crafts is a home-based business which provides personalised products such as bags, t-shirts and gifts.

Sophie, a mother of two from Washington, wanted to start the business at the beginning of the year until coronavirus took over and put plans on hold, but was fortunate enough to receive a refund from her cancelled family holiday and was able to use the money to kickstart the business despite difficult economic circumstances.

She said: “As we are still in the early stages of our business, we feel revenue has been very steady and we are incredibly happy with how things are going and look forward to the future.

“Initially we were very hesitant to invest our savings into a small business during such an uncertain time; but since launch those doubts have been cast aside. At first, I think like many people trying to juggle home and work life during lockdown was difficult; everything was new to us; but we learnt how to manage our time better.”

Sophie has been overwhelmed with positive feedback from customers since starting Little Cub Crafts and is excited for the future with hopes to grow the venture in 2021.
