Here’s when Sunderland leisure centres and Silksworth Ski Slope are set to reopen after seven-month closure

Raich Carter Sports Centre, Sunderland Aquatic Centre, Houghton Sports Centre and the Ski Slope at Silksworth Sports Complex, which are managed by sports and leisure operator Everyone Active on behalf of Sunderland City Council, are due to reopen in the coming weeks.
This is when the four centres will reopen:
Ski Slope at Silksworth Sports Complex: October 17
Houghton Sports Centre: November 1
Swimming pools at Sunderland Aquatic Centre: November 9
Gym, group exercise classes and sports hall at Raich Carter Sports Centre: November 1

Hide AdThe swimming pool at Raich Carter Sports Centre will initially remain closed as part of the phased approach to re-opening the leisure facilities.
All customers will be communicated with directly as further facilities at the centres continue to open.
Those who usually attend Raich Carter Sports Centre will be able to use the swimming pool facilities at Sunderland Aquatic Centre from November 9.

Hide AdThe latest Government update confirmed leisure centres can remain open, with strict operational measures in place.
Ian Bradgate, Everyone Active’s contract manager, said: “Giving people the opportunity to resume activity and exercise in these leisure centres will go a long way to maintaining the good health of local communities.
“We’ve been overwhelmed with the support we have received from customers during these unprecedented times, and we’re so grateful. Like many other industries, leisure has been greatly affected by the lockdown.
We will be contacting all customers directly over the coming days regarding the centres reopening and the facilities available to them.
