Here's everything we know about the Government's 'Eat Out to Help Out' vouchers

During the mini-budget announcement this afternoon (Wednesday, July 8), the Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak has announced an “Eat Out to Help Out” scheme.

It means that everyone in the UK will receive a discount to help get customers back into cafes, pubs and restaurants – in a bid to boost the hospitality industry following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Customers eating a meal at any participating business, Monday to Wednesday throughout August, will be entitled to a discount of up to £10 per head in the party – including children.

Any business that chooses to be involved in the scheme will then be able to claim the money back – with the Chancellor promising that funds with be back in their bank account within five working days.

Speaking at the mini-budget announcement, Mr Sunak said: “I can announce today that, for the month of August, we will give everyone in the country an ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ discount.

“Meals eaten at any participating business, Monday to Wednesday, will be 50% off, up to a maximum discount of £10 per head for everyone, including children.

“Businesses will need to register, and can do so through a simple website, open next Monday.

“Each week in August, businesses can then claim the money back, with the funds in their bank account within five working days.”
