Many of the usual Christmas traditions, such as the pantomimes at Sunderland Empire and Customs House, have been cancelled this year. But seeing Santa at Fenwick is one of the region’s traditions which will go ahead.

Santa on the Roof returns in a Covid-19 secure fashion, as well as Santa’s Breakfast and Supper Club plus all-new Santa Sundays, with tickets going on sale from 10am on Thursday, October 8.

The man himself will return to the rooftop from Saturday, November 7 through to Christmas Eve with all other Christmas experiences running throughout the festive season.

Kieran McBride, Store Director at Fenwick Newcastle, said: “We are delighted to announce our extremely popular host of bespoke Christmas experiences will be returning to Newcastle this year.

"All experiences have been designed in accordance with current government guidelines which have been strictly implemented throughout.

"These experiences include the return of our immersive Santa on the Roof experience, Santa’s Breakfast and Supper Club’s as well as our brand-new experience this year - Santa Sundays. We’re doing everything we can to make this year’s Christmas as special as possible and ensure everyone can experience the festivities at Fenwick in a safe way.”

The annual window display will return and all Christmas events will follow the guidance of local and national health authorities with further measures being introduced this year to ensure ticketholders continue to enjoy Christmas at Fenwick in a Covid-19 secure way.

Accordingly, all event bookings will be open to single households or bubbles only in line with current government guidelines and the number of people visiting the experiences at any time will be carefully managed and regular cleaning will take place, as it does daily across the entire store.

The store has also implemented an additional Covid-19 Refund Policy. This enables customers to obtain a full refund up until the day of the event should they display Covid-19 symptoms, be subject to quarantine following Covid-19 contact, or if the event itself is cancelled due to lockdown or Covid-19 restrictions.
