All the McDonald's drive-thrus that are open in Sunderland and South Tyneside - and what's on the limited menu

The burger chain’s restaurants may still be closed in line with the coronavirus lockdown, but it has reopened its drive-thrus nationwide.

Between Tuesday and Thursday, the firm reopened its entire network.

The firm reopened five North East outlets on Tuesday, a further 24 - including Hartlepool, South Shields, Dalton Park, Peterlee, and Alnwick and Ashington – on Wednesday and 261 on Thursday, June 4, including those in Sunderland.

Queues of drivers were quick to form as people took the chance to get their hands on their favourites.

The firm has introduced a number of changes including social distancing has been introduced in the kitchens and service areas, perspex screens at drive-thru windows and employees wearing protective equipment, as well as Perspex screens and floor markings in specific areas in the restaurant and kitchen.

All employees are being asked to confirm they are fit and able to work and contactless thermometers will be used to take their temperatures on arrival at work for every shift.

McDonald’s is running a limited menu at the moment, but it’s best-loved options are all present and correct.
