Whether you getaway from the game and the hours and hours of build-up dominating much of the day with a bit of me time, trying out one of our amazing eateries in Sunderland or taking in a movie could be the perfect escape.
Here’s some alternative things to do in Sunderland on Sunday, July 11, if you’re not down the pub watching the Italy v England Euro 2020 final.
5. Start a new series
Current Netflix series include Sex Life, The Deceived, Black Summer and Virgin River. Photo: pixabay
6. Sculpture Trail Walk
The 'Red House' is part of the Wearside Sculpture Trail, which comprises a series of pieces along the north side of the Wear between Roker and Wearmouth Bridge. Made from red sandstone, reclaimed from the old Queen Alexandra Bridge, it depicts the ruin of a house complete with various pieces of furniture, clothing and personal effects. The Red House was carved on site by Colin Wilbourn and Karl Fisher. Photo: David Allan
7. Go for a walk under Victoria Viaduct
Not the most well-known of Wear crossings, but that doesn't make Victoria Viaduct any less spectacular. For a beautifully scenic walk follow the path from Fatfield to see this feat of Victorian engineering. It was completed on June 28, 1838, the date of the coronation of Queen Victoria; hence its name.
