We’ve rounded up some of the coffee shops and cafes in Sunderland and Seaham who will be opening up their outdoor tables, so you can enjoy a much-needed coffee break with up to five friends or another household. Note that all businesses will be able to open for sit-in dining from May 17.

10. Sue's Cafe, Roker
Sue's won't be opening its outdoor tables just yet as it's where people queue, but there's plenty of seats opposite where you can tuck into your sausage sandwich. Photo: JPI Media
11. Flamingo, Seaham Marina
For one of the prettiest outdoor areas in Seaham with its pink accessories and flower walls, head to Flamingo for clean eating treats, smoothies, buddha bowls and more. Its terrace will open from 10am on April 12 and can accommodate 28 people at a time. There's no bookings for tables. You will need to preorder as usual using the app and grab a seat if there's one free. Plenty of free parking. Photo: JPI Media
