So if you’re heading into the city centre, there’s plenty of places for al fresco pints and cocktails. Here’s a round up of some of the places to visit this summer, in no particular order.
5. Hidden, Green Terrace
Last year Hidden moved from its original site in Park Lane to new premises in the Galen Building and created a new beer garden for the city. It's clever use of underused space at the rear of the building. Photo: Stu Norton
6. Halo Bar & Kitchen
Halo Bar & Kitchen is another fairly new addition to the city that breathed new life into the old Bud Bigalows site last year after it had stood empty for years. As well as a large interior bar, it has a beer garden at the front that overlooks the Minster. Photo: Stu Norton
7. Bar Justice, Sunniside
Another beer garden that's a bit of a hidden one, Bar Justice has a colourful terrace upstairs that's a real sun trap. Photo: submitted
8. Gatsby, Park Lane
Gatsby underwent a major refit over lockdown to give it a new look inside. It has two terraces for drinks outdoors and is a reliable favourite with city centre drinkers. Photo: Frank Reid
