9. Elton John, Stadium of Light, June 19
Elton John's final ever tour heads to the Stadium of Light on June 19, which is Father's Day. The tour is his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour which began in September 2018 and proved popular with fans, before it was halted due to the pandemic. Setlists on previous dates on the tour have included Bennie And The Jets, I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues, Tiny Dancer, Rocket Man, Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word, Candle In The Wind, I’m Still Standing, Crocodile Rock, Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting), Your Song, The Bitch is Back and, of course, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. 10. Kubix Festival, Herrington Country Park, July 9 and July 15-16
Kubix will return to Herrington Country Park for a pop and dance day on July 9, followed by a weekend of rock and indie on July 15 and 16. Acts for the pop day so far include Vengaboys, Steps and Aqua. The indie and rock weekend will feature Shed Seven, Happy Mondays, Stiff Little Fingers and more. 11. Lamplight festival, Mowbray Park, August 5-7
After numerous delays due to the pandemic, Sunderland's inaugural Lamplight Festival is set to take place in Mowbray Park from August 5-7. Jack Savoretti will perform on the opening night followed by headliners Kaiser Chiefs (Saturday, August 6) and Deacon Blue (Sunday, August 7) for this three-day celebration of music. Photo: submitted
